WEEK 9 - Distraction

November 18, 2019

Been doing a little reseach into distraction. Seeking some remedies for the lack of focus I sometimes feel I have.

Coincidentally came across an interesting short video on the BBC website…

With the basics being…

  • Plan your day - don’t worry too much about a to do list

  • Ration Social Media to a few set times in the day

  • Surf the urge - meaning being mindfully aware of the urge to be distracted.

  • Beware of liminal moments - those moments of transition. End one thing and begin the next. Don’t allow them to fade between them.

  • Remember you are not powerless - if you believe you can control, you will.

I have to admit I came to some of these conclusions quite indepedently by accident this week. I tried a different strategy and set aside time for certain things. Now partly this is possible because I have more control over my time at the moment.
