Been doing a little reseach into distraction. Seeking some remedies for the lack of focus I sometimes feel I have.
Coincidentally came across an interesting short video on the BBC website…
With the basics being…
Plan your day - don’t worry too much about a to do list
Ration Social Media to a few set times in the day
Surf the urge - meaning being mindfully aware of the urge to be distracted.
Beware of liminal moments - those moments of transition. End one thing and begin the next. Don’t allow them to fade between them.
Remember you are not powerless - if you believe you can control, you will.
I have to admit I came to some of these conclusions quite indepedently by accident this week. I tried a different strategy and set aside time for certain things. Now partly this is possible because I have more control over my time at the moment.
